Once upon a ride...

We use the best films from Tacx. Here is a small selection of the films we feature. As a group we simulate the difficulty and features of the road we are following all the way to the summit. These films make a 45-50 minute session on the Wattbike just fly by. The short previews below will whet your appetite for the challenges ahead.

Alpe d’Huez

The ultimate Tour de France stage. Ride the iconic 21 hairpins to the summit (1860m). Round each bend you will get 20 seconds respite dancing up out of the Wattbike saddle. Then its back down and riding your best effort until the next hairpin. Cruel but exhilarating - it's the stage all riders want to win.

Mont Ventoux

The Giant of Provence (1911m). You leave the small town of Bedouin with hope in your heart, but soon embark upon the punishing first few kilometres of the climb through the forest. 6km from the summit the scenery changes dramatically into a desolate rocky moonscape. This is where Tour de France legends are made.

Col d’Aubisque

Tick off another of the most famous and scenic climbs of Le Tour on the YELO Wattbikes. You will first climb the Col du Soulor, then have a short downhill section before the final ascent to the Col d’Aubisque (1704m).

Monte Zoncolan

The Pink Dragon. A climb where the winner’s pink jersey of the Giro d’Italia has been decided in many recent years. Notoriously steep. It is considered one of the most challenging climbs in professional cycling... We hope our Wattbike simulation does it justice.

Cap de Formentor

The road to the lighthouse. The island of Mallorca is a popular warm-weather training destination for cyclists. This ride undulates up and down several short but spectacular climbs along the coast. The finish is the northern-most point of the island.

Luz Ardiden

The Pyrenees in all their summer glory. This climb has featured in many dramatic moments of the Tour de France. The final hairpins to the ski station offer fabulous views to inspire your last efforts of the Wattbike simulation.

Giro d’Italia

Three amazing climbs to preview together here. We do each as a whole 45-50 minute Wattbike session on its own: 1. The brutal forest climb of the Mortirolo, 2. The magnificent hairpins of the Passo dello Stelvio, 3. The twisty cliff-edges of the Passo di Gavia.

Col du Galibier

Another Alpine classic of the Tour de France. A steady start along relatively straight roads. It then turns wiggly and nasty. One innocent switchback over a small mountain stream takes you onto a fearsome ramp into the sky. The summit (2646m) is well above the snow-line even on this sunny day.

Alto del Angliru

Until recent years it was no more than a cattle path, but this climb in Asturias has become the most mythical and feared climb of the Vuelta d’Espana. Ride through the clouds as the road kicks up to 23%... its just as well we are only on Wattbikes. This preview also shows the picturesque Alto de la Farrapona climb.

Sa Calobra

A giant Scaletrix for cyclists. This beautiful road in Mallorca twists and turns and loops under itself. A favourite warm-weather training ride for Team GB Olympians, and for many adventurous Marlow riders. We hope it brings back nice memories.
